Drum Circle Magic

We have been visiting schools all over Ireland for many years now presenting one day workshops and longer residencies from 5 weeks to a full school year!
Possibly the most popular of these programmes is the "drum circle magic" workshop. Using the format of a drum circle Eddie uses drumming, rhythm based games and activities to teach not only musical skills but more importantly life skills and personal development skills such as Cultural studies, self esteem, creativity listening skills plus many important social skills like inclusion, communication, sharing, teamwork and respect for self and others.
These are all delivered using a very friendly, fun and simple approach that is synonymous with Eddie's style.
The workshop is designed to be educational, entertainging and developmental.

Teacher Training Courses

Eddie also runs courses in teacher training centres throughout Ireland for teachers who are interested in using drumming/rhythm activities in the classroom to complement and enhance academic and social development in their students.  It is not necessary to have any experience of drumming, or even to have any musical skills to take the course. This is a very elementary level course, and great fun. Teachers will learn drumming/rhythm games, activities and rhythms that are designed to assist the child's development socially, academically and personally.  Teachers will also learn a little about using drumming for their own health benefits such as de-stressing, relaxing and having a more holistic approach to their health and wellness. Performance Preparation Programme

Eddie can also work with a specific class/classes to teach them a suitable African rhythm to be performed at a school concert assembly, cultural day, fun-day etc. this is great fun and a little more intense and so is more suitable to older children ie 4th, 5th, 6th classes and of course Transition year students at second level. This programme normally takes the form of a visit to your school once a week for 5 to 6 weeks prior to the performance date. A class of up to 30 children can be turned into a wonderful drumming/percussion orchestra that will amaze the audience at any performance event.
